Gents, 1. Did you see the game the last player taken in our draft had last night? REBOUNDS PLAYER POS MIN FGM-FGA FTM-FTA OFF-DEF-TOT AST PF ST TO PTS ====== === === ======= ======= =========== === == == == === T DELK G 37 13-16 3-3 2 6 8 10 3 0 2 33 plus 1 blocked shot and 4 3-pointers! These guys are good! Too bad it doesn't count. 2. I take it back - Hill isn't a wimp. I've now read that he sprained the ankle but kept playing on it. So, he may be stupid but he's not a wimp. 3. I don't ever recall in the NBA so many superstars having fallen so far. Consider when the following players were taken: 40 David Robinson 46 Reggie Miller 60 John Stockton 64 Hakeem Olajuwon 76 Penny Hardaway not drafted: Kukoc, Stoudamire, Joe Smith, Pippen, Tim Hardaway, Patrick Ewing I guess the money is too good to walk away from while you are still a decent player so they hold on as long as they can. 4. I can not believe the Sixers got Coleman back yesterday. I predict a disaster in Philadelphia this winter. 5. Cyberzahm predictions - in order of predicted finish: Dave Nice job. Maybe took Mutumbo a little soon considering Shaq was already in the fold ... and Shawn Bradley at pick 56 (want to lock up that blocked shot category eh?). But, you can't count on this team being managed extremely well (or at all) so you gotta put them last. Andy You know, in most ways Andy seems fairly intelligent. He can entertain with poetry, discuss world affairs, analyze sporting events - but he is simply roto-hoops "challenged". And the a'mazin thing is he thinks his team is good. Camby, Ratliff, and BWallace at Center? Puh-leese. The mistake of taking Marbury with pick 11 was partially fixed by getting Kidd at 18 but I see too many stretches on this team. 6th place. Jack Not bad. But too many one dimensional players and a couple of big stretches. Ray Allen is a good player and we did add 3's this year but pick number 3 in the draft? Payton is on the downside now, the Admiral is hurt all the time, Eddie and Allan don't do enough. 5th place. Hans Did snake me a couple times (I considered taking Bibby at pick 37 - didn't think he would get back to me at pick 48. Watched with growing hopefulness as player after player was drafted and then stupid Hans takes him at 47. Ouch.) Pulled the trigger on the move everyone was having wet dreams about - Nowitski at center. I don't expect MJ to be that good. Nobody to help him and the zone is back so he'll be double teamed. Not a bad draft, but somebody has to be 4th. Mags Great job providing the lists of players for the day's draft. Must have been interesting evenings. I think you will hate Divac and Howard, but they were drafted late enough not to hurt too much. I hope AI works out, but as I said, it looks like a long winter in Philly. Still, I like the looks of the team and say it will be 3rd. Gabes Good job per usual. What do you expect when you can work on your draft 24/7, with secretarial support. Best two guards in the league and maybe two of the top 3 players in Frances and Carter at picks 7 and 8. Picking last might not be too bad in this league - maybe we should select draft slots in opposite order of finish instead of just drafting in opposite order of finish. Loved the JO'Neal and KMartin picks. Center is weak with Jahidi backing up Hakeem - Hakeem couldn't hit a lion with a shotgun these days. Sad. 2nd place. Fox Need one of the Alonzo/Grant gambles to pay off. Other than that, the good balance shown by this roster, and the astutue management skills historically displayed by the brilliant manager, leads me to pick the Foxes number 1. That's all. Fox
