Email comments from various participants: ------------------------------------------- Great seeing everyone this weekend. Hans and Prep- sorry I missed you this morning- had to head out before you were circulating. Sobo thanks for the lift to Midway and for the ND hotel arrangements. Hans, great job arranging things in Chicago and on the links. Zookeeper- LMS Blows! Had a great time- I'll recap and send more photos this week. Here's the kid's photo. His shirt says "Life is good". How about that. Mags And from a later email that included some photos: Here are the last few photos from the weekend. A couple of golf shots of Fox, Hans, and the other one is the foursome of Al-Andy-Prep-Sobo on the green ahead of us. That shot is actually a minute-long video of Andy putting- it only appears to be a still-shot. And another: One highlight that was not mentioned was that stimulating and informative HALF-HOUR one way conversation we heard between Albert and Ann / Ian. I learned a LOT about Channel Management, NetApp, and what Al really does for a living. What a hoot! ------------------------------------------- Tom, Thanks for all of your hard work. Sorry I wasn't able to see you this AM. Some great highlights to the weekend: - Mags goes to heaven for giving the foul ball to "The Kid". - Andy wins another "Major". - Great times for all!!! Jack ------------------------------------------- Guys- My take on the game and the weekend: THE GAME - Overall, we played like shit. What surprised me was the lack of emotion. Didn't see the intensity we saw last week against UM. Maybe because we were on the road, but this team needs to bring it every week to be competitive. - Offensive line is offensive. If you look at the schools we beat when recruiting these players everyone thought they were good. Latina needs to go- NOW! - Team is still amazingly young. Every playermaker is a Fr/Soph. They are getting the athleticism you see from the BCS teams, but need to mature. - Charlie looked awful. Think he gained 50 pounds in a week, and can't believe because he was limited in his daily workout. THE WEEKEND - A 10 out of 10. Details: - Props to Jack for getting great seats at the best ballpark in the world. It can't get any better than hanging with friends in a great setting while watching the Cubbies come back from four runs down with two outs in the ninth. Top it off with a great dinner at Brian/Kevin's place and we're off to a great start. - Fabulous weather the entire weekend, continuing with golf at Blackthorne. Then a great meal at Rocco's, and some unexpected fun with Amy's friends with beerpong back at her apt. complex. Great kids, but different from what I remember. - Golf at Warren was a challenge to say the least. Misery definitely loves company, and we had 8 which was enough. - Just hanging out the rest of the day was great. I have to admit when someone raised the idea of doing this in SB on an off football weekend I wasn't thrilled, but I think it was a great idea. It's the company which makes the weekend, and that was first class. Combine it with familiar surroundings and some memories and it's a great weekend. Enjoyed it. Love you guys. Let's do it again. Sobo ------------------------------------------- It was great seeing almost everyone this weekend. Fortunately the weather was spectacular all four days. Terry, sorry you couldn’t get here. Hopefully next time. A couple of quick comments before I head out to a charity golf outing (I am almost starting to play as much golf as Al!) Incredible comeback by the Cubs on Thursday. If they win the series, this is one of the games they will point back to for encouragement. Glad everything worked out for dinner at Brian / Kevin’s after the game. They enjoyed having us over. Sorry I missed the post dinner drinking at various bars. The best golf was played by everyone on Friday. Saturday golf was very poor – a tough course when you hit it off the fairway. Enjoyable Friday night at Rocco’s and with Amy and friends at Layfayette apartments. The Irish started badly on Saturday and really never improved. We have no running game, which is unforgiveable. Let’s see what happens at home vs Purdue. The Boilers should be favored. Progress is slow at best. The Waterford Estates lodging worked out well, especially the party room to watch the game and play skat. Best to all! Hans ------------------------------------------- It WAS a great weekend. In addition to all that the others captured, I really enjoyed my post-game campus walkabout w/ Prep, Mags, Andy and Fox. I don't get back anywhere near as often as most, and being on campus... Seeing the changes, and visiting the familiar places, was wonderful. Missed you Ike, Ter, John, Dave, Mark, etc.... Even you, Willo. Al -------------------------------------------
