Hi all, Andy Fest was great. Really really great. Thanks Andy and everybody else. I think we proved Tom Wolfe wrong and you can go home again. Some things I remember that may not have been mentioned yet: The Bowery Boys taking three hours to start the boat so they could take it out on the lake, stall it and scare the hog out of Willo. Sitting up till 3 Friday night discussing Terry's social disorders and listening to Casey at the Bat. Zambucco? What was that after dinner drink I had on Thursday and Friday? Drawing a natural straight on the last hand of the night only to be beaten by a natural flush. Walking around campus on Thursday thinking "this must be a great place to go to school" and then remembering ... Getting Father Hesburgh to sign a copy of his autobiography for my dad. The 100th anniversary of the grotto. A campus that was hopping before the game on Saturday like I had never seen it before. Chuckling during the sermon when the priest said that this was the chapel where Johnny 0 used to come to pray and picturing Johnny kneeling there repeating "Please let the Bears cover the spread". Gabes walking into the woods to search for yet another errant ball and discovering it nestled up to the trunk of a tree with DD hovering over it and zooming in for a close up with the video camera continuing his play by play ... "looks like Gabes has a tough shot from here" Terry M addressing his golf ball, asking aloud if he should try to put a little draw on it, and then topping another ground ball to shortstop. Andy topping a ball into a lake on a par three, then smoking the next one only to have it hit a power line, bounce into another power line, and then land in the drink. That accounted for two of about 40 balls that found water I think. I woulda murdered that course. Double D sleeping at the foot of my bed to protect the Roto King from any would be assasins. Good job Dave. Seeing thursday night Sportscenter 12 times between thursday night and friday morning. The mega-monster omelet. How fast the chocolate covered raisens disappeared. Cigar smoke, mold fungus, itchy eyes and sharing medication (thanks Terry). Having a few beers. Hanging out with good friends and the connection was as if we'd left ND last week instead of 23 years ago. Thanks again everybody and you absentees ... don't dare miss the next one. Fox
